Private Smyth

 

The background of this man is not known at present.

Smyth (first name not known) enlisted in the North Irish Horse at Belfast on 19 October 1918 (Corps of Hussars No.72213). He stated that he was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, was a labourer, and was 19 years old. He was described as being 5' 3¾" tall, with a fresh complexion, dark hair and grey eyes. He was tattooed with a scroll on his right forearm and a girl's head on the left, with scars on his left knee and elbow.

He was reported to have deserted from the regiment's reserve depot at Antrim on 26 October 1918.
